Dr. Hovsepian’s Background

Early in his life, a family tragedy inspired Dr. Raffi Hovsepian to become a plastic surgeon: “Plastic surgery lets me apply principles and techniques to give people a new start in life.” His perseverance and tenacity earned him a Bachelor of Science Degree at UC Irvine, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He next attended the prestigious Chicago Medical School, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine Degree and completed two Master’s in Science Degrees, in Pathology and Physiology, graduating in the top 10% of his class.

Prior to training in plastic surgery, Raffi Hovsepian, M.D., completed his residency and was certified by the American Board of Surgery (ABS) in general surgery at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, Las Vegas, where he graduated as the Chief Resident.

He’s also been indoctrinated into the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), an accomplishment achieved by only a handful of surgeons.

As Assistant Clinical Professor in the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the UC Irvine School of Medicine, and former Co-Director of the Newport Beach Aesthetic Surgery Fellow & Resident Training Program at the prestigious Aesthetic & Plastic Surgery Institute, Dr. Hovsepian educates and mentors up-and-coming plastic surgery residents in training.

Dr. Hovsepian has also lectured at over 30 conferences both nationally and internationally, and has authored and co-authored numerous medical journals, articles, book chapters, and educational videos.
